Frequently Asked Questions
What is the molecular weight of the contained hyaluronic acid?
The hyaluronic acid contained in ArthroFill is in a size range of 800 to 1500 kDa. The abbreviation "kDa" stands for kilodalton and refers to the molecular mass of the hyaluronic acid.
This molecular weight corresponds to the hyaluronic acid naturally occurring in the human body. Studies have shown that hyaluronic acid in this size range is particularly well absorbed by the body.
Three classes often appear in connection with the size or weight specification of hyaluronic acid:
- low molecular (50 kDa and below)
- medium molecular (50 – 1500 kDa)
- high molecular (1500 kDa and above)
The hyaluronic acid contained in ArthroFill is in the medium to high molecular range.
How can ArthroFill support me with osteoarthritis?
The three most important factors that usually influence the course of osteoarthritis are:
- Movement
- Relaxation
- Nutrition
The big challenge: We have to take all three into our own hands. No one can do this for us. That is why osteoarthritis is hardly treatable by others. That is why there is no remedy that simply takes away our symptoms. But we ourselves can make a decisive contribution to relief!
Science now knows that cartilage tissue can regenerate. Cartilage cells divide. For cartilage to regenerate, the conditions in the joint must be changed so that the degenerative (cartilage-degrading) processes no longer predominate. This means above all:
- not too much pressure in the joint, which is why relaxation is so important
- sufficient movement, because nutrient exchange in the joint requires movement. Only through movement do nutrients reach the joint cartilage.
- the right nutrients in the blood, which pass through the synovial membrane into the joint fluid.
ArthroFill can help supply the body with essential nutrients: trace elements, vitamins, organic sulfur compounds. All of these are needed by cartilage, bones, and connective tissue to stay healthy. Hyaluronic acid is a main component of joint fluid. Joint fluid, in turn, transports all nutrients to the cartilage, acts as a shock absorber, and minimizes friction in the joint.
Can I take ArthroFill during pregnancy?
There is no evidence of disadvantages from taking ArthroFill during pregnancy and breastfeeding. However, there are no studies on this, as it would not be permissible or ethically justifiable. To be 100 percent sure, we advise against taking ArthroFill during pregnancy without first consulting your gynecologist.
Pregnancy is a very special phase of life with many physical changes. Even though people today live in a very different environment than during their evolutionary development, the unborn life should still grow as naturally as possible – able to develop protected and safe in as natural a space as possible. Safety to protect mother and child is paramount.
What science largely agrees on is that, for example, supplementation with folic acid – especially in the first months of pregnancy – is very important.
